I am a studied designer and expert for international and cross-cultural campaigns.
My experience spans more than 25 years in some of the most creative agencies in Germany and abroad.
Besides extensive experience in the automotive and beauty sectors, I have worked for a broad range of clients across FMCG, food, fashion, technology, telecommunications, DIY, insurance, travel, cigarettes, media, culture and social. Directing iconic brands such as Mercedes-Benz, Smart, Audi, Nivea, Levi’s, Coca-Cola, eBay, Bosch and Olympus.
I was lucky to win more than 300 awards, including Golds from D&AD and Cannes.
I earned my creative education at Springer & Jacoby, one of the two leading agencies in Germany at the time, working my way up from designer to art director to eventually lead units with their own PNL as creative director for the last seven years.
I have gained a massive knowledge in the automotive sector working at least half of the time for Mercedes-Benz and Smart.
After 13 years at Springer & Jacoby it was time for something new and I couldn’t resist joining Jung von Matt any longer. It was a great experience to work in Germany’s then top creative agency, becoming ECD and overseeing the sub agency Jung v. Matt/Elbe with about 100 people. The fields of work were classic advertising as well as brochures and literature for brands like Mercedes-Benz (again) and Maybach, alongside many more from multiple fields.
In 2009, I wanted to gain network experience so I moved to FCB. I was part of the agency’s leadership board and responsible for all local clients, Nivea Germany and Nivea Men Global as Executive Creative Director.
In this role I creatively led a significant communication change for Nivea Men by building a completely new worldwide brand platform based on multiple consumer insights across various markets. The project included strategy, tonality and CI.
Linked to this, I held a consulting role for other European FCB offices to execute the European Nivea Men football sponsorship with Liverpool FC and Paris Saint Germain.
For Germany, we developed several campaigns with Germany’s national team coach, Joachim Löw.
The roster of FCB’s local clients was very diverse and included brands like Bosch, Mondelez, Lindt Chocolate and Hamburg Philharmonic Orchestra.
After a fruitful time at FCB, I wanted to spend more time in London where my wife was working and started freelancing for agencies like Grey, Heimat, Interone, Jung v. Matt and Saatchi & Saatchi in 2016.
2017 and 2018 I was in Beijing as ECD at BBDO, where I headed the digital team and enjoyed working
in a new and very interesting cultural environment – on a client I know pretty well: Mercedes-Benz.
I had the honour to be member of the Global Creative Board and Starforce, the regular Mercedes-Benz
steering meetings with the key players of the three most important markets Germany, U.S. and China.
2019 and 2020, I added another facet to my international and automotive experience in Barcelona at C14TORCE, the tailor-made global lead agency for SEAT.
I have been a member and judge of the Art Directors Club Germany (ADC) since 2004.
In 2017, I was student mentor at the One Show Greater China.
